Bomberman Ultra rocks. Despite the fact that Hudson has released 283 bazillion versions of the game over the years, many gamers don't know what it is. You control this little guy who throws down bombs in a destructible maze, in an effort to sizzle your opponents before their bombs (or your own) do the same to you. Bomberman features various power ups, puzzle-action mechanics, some modicum of strategy, and is one of the most entertaining multiplayer experiences of all time. Any of you who've huddled around a Sega Saturn hooting and hollering curses and shouts of victory at each other know exactly what I mean.
Unfortunately, Bomberman's publisher kept trying to develop crappy variants of single player platforming, adventuring and exploration Bomberman games - and trying to charge us full retail for the pain. PlayStation Network is the perfect home for this classic character, as the multiplayer awesomeness has been distilled into a simple, no-fuss $10 download. You can still have your 4 player party in person, or jump online yourself (or with your 3 buddies) for up to 8 player madness over PlayStation Network. It's...astounding. Bomberman Ultra is an excellent party game, and the only Bomberman title you need to own.
