Here's a second-tier classic that's managed to endure just under the mainstream radar. Obviously inspired by Pac-Man and Donkey Kong, BurgerTime takes their mechanics and infuses them with a healthy dose of hallucinogenic madness. You control a short order cook who must navigate ladders and platforms to assemble humpback whale-sized burgers by walking over the ingredients, while avoiding a marauding gang of vicious pickles, sausages, and fried eggs.

You can crush these delicious enemies between colossal slabs of burger components, or cause them to fall to their doom with the collapsing layers. In a pinch, you have a few sprinkles of pepper with which to stun them.

That's all there is to it. BurgerTime is 1982's way of saying, "Sup, kids! Wazza dillz?" via a simple, archaic game that still manages to communicate a vital charm and playability.

BurgerTime hasn't seen retail release since way back on the original PlayStation (Arcade's Greatest Hits : Midway Collection 2).
