The Trial of Satoru Iwata

"Mr Iwata! You stand accused of running Nintendo, a once great and glorious company, into the ground. You have repeatedly ignored developments in technology and have rejected obvious evolutions in the gaming industry. Mr Iwata, is this a joke to you? Because of you, Nintendo games:

- Fail to have Season Passes demanding an investment commitment from the consumer
- Fail to have DLC that is made during development time but is deliberately withheld to be released a month later as paid content
- Fail to release in a buggy state that is patched several months later
- Fail to have preorder bonuses that give you an advantage over other players
- Fail to have micro-transactions that give you an advantage over other players
- Fail to have a deliberately pay-to-win infrastructure
- Fail to give consumers less for more with huge portions of their budgets going into graphics and Hollywood-lite production values
- Fail to charge players to play online
- Fail to receive a new installment every year
- Fail to be timed exclusives that encourage perpetual and petty one-upmanship
- Fail to be released prematurely to satisfy publisher interests

"Mr Iwata, all of this, and more, is why you stand here today before the Council of Five awaiting your fate. You stand accused of the above; of ruining Nintendo; and of bringing shame and dishonour to our company. Mr Iwata: what do you have to say for yourself?"
