Telltale Games announces Star Wars title
Earlier this year Telltale Games' Dan Connor and Kevin Bruner expressed their interest in making a Star Wars adventure game, describing it as a 'dream IP'. When the company announced its future projects, they included games based off of the Borderlands and Game of Thrones properties, but Star Wars was nowhere to be seen, causing many to believe that they weren't working on a game set in George Lucas's universe after all.
Well, it appears that Telltale has been keeping their future projects quieter than people may have first suspected, because it turns out that they are working on a Star Wars game - and one that has a beautiful cel-shaded style reminiscent of The Clone Wars. The new game, which currently has no title, will take place during the events of the first three movies chronologically and features the same gut-wrenching moral choices seen in popular Telltale games such as The Walking Dead or The Wolf Among Us. Dialogue options will appear at the bottom of the screen and can lead characters into a variety of different scenarios that can dramatically alter the development of the story.
The player character is assumed at this stage to be Obi-Wan Kenobi, although this could change later in development. The game is very much in an early stage, I am informed, and will be releasing after the Game of Thrones and Borderlands projects, presumably when the developers at the studio have more time to work on the game.
It is nice to see that an increasing number of IPs are being given the Telltale treatment - a treatment that is consistently of high quality and has done wonders in bringing greater attention to a diverse range of properties. Details about the Star Wars project are scarce at the moment, but no doubt we'll be seeing more information leak through over the next year or two. In the meantime we can look at the above screenshot and wonder what gripping yarn Telltale Games might weave this time - no doubt we'll be forced to make some harrowing decisions that could influence our entire perception of the Jedi universe.
