The (Kind of) Old Made New Again

I am so gosh-darn excited for The Last of Us Remastered on PS4. After all, it's a long time since I played through the original game. Like, a year ago, when the game first launched. And no one can remember that far back.

I interviewed Desmond 'The Truck' Mendez, 26, who assured me that this game is enough to make him want to buy Sony's new system. He said:

"I played The Last of Us in 2013 at a friend's house. While I was playing I couldn't help but look at the shitty textures and the poor frame rate and say to myself, 'Good God, this game looks terrible. Seriously, who would play this pile of crap? It looks like utter dross'. It ruined the entire experience for me and made me physically sick. I projectile vomited all over my dog, who was being rather naughty at the time. He didn't forgive me, but screw him - he's a dumb animal and I'm looking to play some NEXT GEN games here.

"Where was I? Oh yeah, so when I heard The Last of Us was getting an HD upgrade in 2014 I couldn't believe my luck. I'd love for this to become the new standard, honestly - re-releasing games every year as graphical capabilities marginally increase. They should re-release Infamous: Second Son next year when developers learn how to use the PS4 tech a bit more. I'd gladly keep throwing down 50 quid for the same game over and over...except not the same game at all, because now it looks LOADS better.

"IGN gave The Last of Us Remastered a 10/10. I can't effing wait to get my hands on it. I mean, it had plenty of flaws while playing it at my friend's house outside of its graphics, including dumb AI, a lack of enemy variety and adhering to every genre cliche in the book, but none of that should come into the equation when the game looks THIS GOOD, right?

"This is a system seller for me. Playing this on the PS3 was so pointless I didn't even bother buying it. But on the PS4? Forget about it. The game is so much more now. Look at every highly-polished corner of every shiny brick in this game and you'll see it's the 10/10 masterpiece it is claimed to be by critics. You might have to take cover a few times in some poorly conceived closed-in environments clearly set aside for combat between linear corridors while you take in the graphics, but, I ask you, WHO CARES?

"Do yourself a favour and buy a PS4 - it allows you to play all of the best games of 2013 at a higher price! That this is the best game Sony has to offer players in 2014 is telling...of how AWESOME THEY ARE!"
