Gold Squadron Pilot: 18 points, PS 2 (v1.0 W12)

The Y-Wing manages to be both unwieldy and flexible, in a clunky chassis with numerous options. Let's start with the maximum count we can reasonably field:

Quint ABT - Rank C

(20) Gold Squadron Pilot: Autoblaster Turret
(20) Gold Squadron Pilot: Autoblaster Turret
(20) Gold Squadron Pilot: Autoblaster Turret
(20) Gold Squadron Pilot: Autoblaster Turret
(20) Gold Squadron Pilot: Autoblaster Turret

40 health is a thick chunk of gristle to chew through. We've had a run of sturdy ships shaping the environment, but if a fragile ace meta arises again, bump this squad's rank up.

Quad TLT - Rank B

(25) Gold Squadron Pilot: Chopper, Bomb Loadout, Twin Laser Turret, Guidance Chips
(25) Gold Squadron Pilot: R4-D6, Twin Laser Turret
(25) Gold Squadron Pilot: R5 Astromech, Twin Laser Turret
(25) Gold Squadron Pilot: R5-X3, Twin Laser Turret

We've seen TLTs most frequently fielded in uniform Scum Unhinged manner, but the Rebels have a wealth of interesting 1 point Astromechs. It's not unreasonable to just spam the generic R5 either; I've long felt that it's severely underrated. (It even repairs the detested Damaged Engine!)

Quad BTLT - Rank B

(25) Gold Squadron Pilot: Flight-Assist/R2 Astromech, Twin Laser Turret, BTL-A4 Y-Wing
(25) Gold Squadron Pilot: Flight-Assist/R2 Astromech, Twin Laser Turret, BTL-A4 Y-Wing
(25) Gold Squadron Pilot: Flight-Assist/R2 Astromech, Twin Laser Turret, BTL-A4 Y-Wing
(25) Gold Squadron Pilot: Flight-Assist/R2 Astromech, Twin Laser Turret, BTL-A4 Y-Wing

This is the jousty version that never quite caught on. *IF* you can keep your nose steadily pointed at your opponent, it provides greater offense. In actual practice, it tends to reduce your TLT damage footprint by 75%. Nevertheless, it is fun to put them on the board and chuck reams of mostly unmodified dice. Rebellions are built on hope! (Flight-Assist is definitely more enjoyable, but with the atrocious Y-Wing dial, there is a case to be made for R2s allowing you to clear Koiogran and debris stresses.)

[EDIT: Tristan Singleton made Top 16 (6th seed) at 2017 Toronto Regional (88 players) flying this with Flight-Assist Astromechs. I'm compelled to raise this squad to Rank B.]

TLTorps - Rank D(ad squad)

(19) Lieutenant Blount: Veteran Instincts, XX-23 S-Thread Tracers
(25) Gold Squadron Pilot: Plasma Torpedoes, Twin Laser Turret, Guidance Chips
(25) Gold Squadron Pilot: Plasma Torpedoes, Twin Laser Turret, Guidance Chips
(25) Gold Squadron Pilot: Plasma Torpedoes, Twin Laser Turret, Guidance Chips

I can't help myself; I am fond of these relics and wanted to explore the other upgrade slot possibilities. This is a terrific "dad squad": something for the weary middle-aged casual who's content with the door prize and doesn't want to worry about a dozen different triggers and conditions and dial permutations in Round 6 while his kid is fighting to make cut. Just stroll up and focus everyone, and hope Blount lives long enough to get his Tracers off. Yell, "It's away!" then scatter and mop up whatever remains with TLT fire.

Minelayers - Rank J(ank)

(27) Ahsoka Tano: Veteran Instincts, Thermal Detonators, Sabine Wren, Scavenger Crane, Captured TIE, Sabine's Masterpiece
(25) Gold Squadron Pilot: Flight-Assist Astromech, Bomb Loadout, Extra Munitions, Cluster Mines
(24) Gold Squadron Pilot: Flight-Assist Astromech, Bomb Loadout, Extra Munitions, Proximity Mines
(24) Gold Squadron Pilot: Flight-Assist Astromech, Bomb Loadout, Extra Munitions, Proximity Mines

You could just run four of the Cluster Mine Y-Wings, and this does kind of fall apart if your opponent has a PS 9+, but I wanted Ahsoka to carry Sabine and provide another method of dropping bombs (you can even fly a Y-Wing onto an asteroid, and use Ahsoka to push the bomb action through). Another ridiculous interaction that Nathan Eide demonstrated is that Ahsoka can attack, but regain the Captured TIE modification with Scavenger Crane, fluff be damned!

Anyone itching for K-Wing bombing after the Advanced SLAM nerf, this is your janky methadone. Flight-Assist Astromech provides a surprising amount of options for post-reposition mine dropping. Behold the pain Countess Ryad is about to endure (she went from full to flotsom on her maneuver).

Wrong Nym - Rank B

Gold Squadron Pilot Pilot Skills are too low to make effective use of drop bombs, which is where Captain Nym comes in. He's able to freeze them, granting them tactical use into turns beyond. I call the build "wrong", because featuring Sabine requires eschewing the Havoc title (and all that entails), but it's still a fairly effective squad.

(46) Captain Nym: Veteran Instincts, Twin Laser Turret, Bomblet Generator, Sabine Wren, Engine Upgrade
(27) Gold Squadron Pilot, R4-D6, Bomb Loadout, Twin Laser Turret, Seismic Charges
(27) Gold Squadron Pilot, R5-X3, Bomb Loadout, Twin Laser Turret, Seismic Charges

You could swap out the droids for any combination of Chopper (add Guidance Chips), R5 Astromech, or upgrade the Seismics to Thermal Detonators.
