We're at that awkward time again. Excitement over new consoles is tempered by the sobering realization that the launch lineups consist of hastily ported last-gen code. Is it too early to say last-gen?

It's even weirder this go around, with purchases that span generations for a small pittance of an extra $10, for those who must HAVE IT NAO then HAVE IT NAO again. For many of these console spanning holiday titles, there are programs, both retail and digital, that allow you to buy it now for our old decrepit systems, then upgrade to the next-gen wonderland for that fee. They'll even port over your online progress, for games like the perennial Call of Duty.
