Yes, this strip is about a game that came out back in February, but I really wanted to mock it, and we just launched the website this month.
I was extremely excited about Star Fox Assault. Nintendo had licensed out the franchise to Namco - they of the shooter lineage stretching from Galaga to Ace Combat 5! I knew the dogfighting would be fantastic. And it was! But you had to work your way through tedious on-foot levels, like some sort of reject "Solid Fox", as well as drudge through some uninspired tank combat in order to get to the wonderfully gooey, creamy filling.
I realize design theory is gravitating toward varied gameplay, and it works across disparate genres, from games such as Grand Theft Auto to Halo to Jak and Daxter, but sometimes you need to maintain Purity of Essence, and stand against the International Communist Conspiracy to sap and impurify all of our precious bodily fluids.
