Next-Gen Treadmill

In the interest of fairness, Destiny is far from the only game guilty of the dangle-the-loot-as-reward-treadmill, but the sheer amount of hype renders it an enticing target. I never completed Diablo 3 because I wearied of the trudging gameplay, particularly because the narrative was both inconsequential and inscrutable.

Like Diablo 3, Destiny is polished. It looks good, and the controls feel good. Like Diablo 3, Destiny quickly becomes repetitive and vacuous, compounded by an inconsequential and inscrutable narrative. It's like dating someone physically attractive, but with a tediously vapid personality. That attractiveness could be sufficient for some, but I'm over it.

Perhaps future content will expand Destiny to the point of justifying my time. It certainly possesses the potential. But at launch, it's decidedly a Rank C game.

[UPDATE: Does this sound even remotely fun?]
