What we typically envision as "time travel" would actually be 5th dimensional peregrination. That's the popping out of the timeline and back in elsewhen and mucking around in the hopes of engineering a more fortuitous reality. A 6th dimensional excursion would allow for simply choosing the most fortuitous reality.
The concept of these dimensions leans heavily on probability theory. However, as a deist, I believe that the universe is observed in its entirety (the state of the cat is known) thus collapsing all wave functions, and nullifying the "Many Worlds Interpretation". (I'm open to individuals more knowledgeable about quantum theory and/or theology schooling me :)
Given that perspective, there is only the one timeline. Even if time travel is possible, it would be impossible to change the timeline. Any time traveler would have "already" "changed" it to the only possible one.
I liked the Terminator storyline far more before it embraced the Back to the Future interpretation. In fact, in my head canon, only the James Cameron films exist, and Judgment Day did occur in 1997.
All yield before the might of my layman's amateur postulation!
