The Adventures of Dave the Direman 2.5

Patch Notes:

*Comic Strip Width Increase

*Increased Line Quality

*Rendition of D. Yun That Doesn't Resemble Me

In general, I like to leave all final visual decisions to Vargas, but there are some things I just can't let go of. The first major battle was to eliminate those horrible black girders that framed the panels of our early strips, and it took me over half a year to convince him that they didn't work. These mouths were another sticking point that I finally bullied him into changing. The mug shots at the bottom are a preview of the next evolutionary stage in the visuals of our characters. Tina may change a bit, as I don't agree that that's "how she looks", but that's a purely aesthetic conflict I'm having with Vargas, as opposed to an objectively fundamental artistic flaw.

So the script for today's comic didn't have me in it, but it's pretty cool that he added me, except that I don't think it really looks like me. The major thing I mentioned to him is that he drew me without glasses. His response was, "Sometimes you don't wear them." I haven't taken off my glasses in 25 years except to sleep, shower, swim, or fight. (My wife asked me, "Are you sleeping with Dave? That's the only time I see you with them off!") So he sends me another version where I have square glasses - my round rims have been something of a personal trademark for 15 years. He vehemently refused to change the strip again, so I went with the original.

I was debating if it was uncool to call Vargas out like this, but since we're breaking the 4th wall in the comic, I thought some of you might be interested in our ongoing creative discourse. Dave, feel free to respond by ripping my writing, my personality issues, or my delinquency in paying you the gruel I promised!

Oh, and Scrubs is back! If you don't like this show, I don't like you.
