So there's this guy, Dave Karraker, whose job title at Sony Computer Entertainment America is "Senior Director of Corporate Communications". As far as I can tell, his sole purpose is to badmouth the competition.
Microsoft announces a 360 firmware upgrade to support 1080p, one of the highly touted marketing points of the PlayStation 3, and his response is that it's not "real" high definition, since the current crop of 360 games would display 1080i upscaled. Uh huh, how about a freaking PS3 firmware upgrade to support 1080i, so that I can get HD graphics on my freaking Sony HD television?
Microsoft announces that movies and television shows will be downloadable for viewing via Xbox Live, and he rips into the fact that owners of the hard drive-less "core" 360 system won't be able to utilize this feature. He neglects to mention the cruditude of the PS3's own stripped down version, and also the fact that Sony doesn't even have any comparable service. We were promised PSP and PS3 online media integration for years now, with nothing to show for it.
Finally, forced to comment on the whupping the PS3 is receiving from the Nintendo Wii saleswise, he attributes it to the Wii being a cheap piece of junk that people pick up as an "impulse buy". The Wii still costs $250; it's not like a candy bar or a tabloid newspaper people grab as they head out of the supermarket.
I figured as a Sony shill, he would naturally hate puppies as well, in favor of the Aibo.
