Mortal Kombat vs. DC

Marvel vs. Capcom and Capcom vs. SNK were awesome. The common thread here is Capcom. It's a shame Capcom vs. Mortal Kombat fell through. Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe doesn't sound very hopeful to me. Does the prospect of Kano vs. Martian Manhunter or Aquaman vs. Johnny Cage rile you up any? Me neither. They nevertheless tried their best to make the debut trailer look cool:

I think I can safely say that the Mortal Kombat series is a second tier franchise at best, and it achieved the bulk of its popularity from cheesing up the blood and violence. With this crossover, however, we obviously won't be seeing Sub-Zero yanking out Green Lantern's spine, or Wonder Woman squishing Jax's skull. I thought the series' gameplay got better in the 3-D era, like in Mortal Kombat: Deception, but even then, it wasn't anywhere near as good as say, Dead or Alive.

The retardedly entertaining movies notwithstanding, the best Mortal Kombat product is probably the soundtrack to the original videogame. If, like me, you're a sucker for bizarre pop-cultural oddities and you like the Sub-Zero theme song I embedded for your enjoyment/pain, you can get it here. We'll get a couple pennies of the $11 it'll set you back, and you can get your videogame/kung fu/techno groove on!
