Hey Neat, Strip #400!

Thanks for everyone who has joined us for four hundred strips of The Adventures of Dave the Direman, including this, the seventh installment of Super Tears Princely Journey: Code O Negative. STPJ:CON is something of a diversion while I get back to playing videogames and following videogame industry news. Some of you have responded positively to the arc, but if it's not your preferred fare, well, thanks for allowing me to indulge my love of Engrish. Your regularly scheduled programming will return shortly - as soon as I think of an ending...

Sandwiched between monster marathons of Fallout 3, I've managed to sneak in a bit of Gears of War 2 time. So far, so great. The campaign mode (single or two player co-op) rides the razor's edge, threatening to teeter from cool to stupid, but so far, over the first several acts, it's successful. It's over the top, bombastic, rough and tumble solid fun. The multiplayer modes are much improved from the original Gears, especially the new "Horde" mode. It's nothing more than a multiplayer (up to five) survival mode, withstanding successive waves of enemy assaults, but it's tremendously addicting and engaging. For those of you who love online play, but hate the vitriol of competitive confrontation, this should give you much satisfaction. Sadly, many individuals are apparently having online connection issues. This mars what may be the most significant release of this most significant fall/winter season, but I imagine Epic has a game update in the works to remedy this. I myself haven't had any major problems as yet, but I definitely hear the frustration of those who have.
