70 Hours Into Fallout 3

I recently managed to get ALL my skills up to 100%, so instead of scrounging my way through the truly massive world, I'm actually just playing through the main and secondary quest lines. (Yes, Fallout 3 is so ridiculously expansive, that it has tertiary quests.) It's a pretty refreshing change now that I'm freed of my obsessive compulsive completion-ism, and I'm able to blast through clearly delineated objectives with a maxxed out character. After seventy hours of deliberate and meticulous trawling, it would appear that I'm just a couple of hours away from "beating" the game. Thank God - I need to recover the time for other endeavors.

I've heard some gamers complain that Fallout 3 is short. It clearly is, if all you do is shoot your way through the main storyline. Seventy hours...and I still haven't explored every location. There are well over a hundred of them, and each is populated with its own little cast of characters and/or narrative. It's like a huge buffet. It's stupid to eat one entree at an all-you-can-eat smorgasbord and complain that you're still hungry.

Oh, and one more time, if you need to choose between the two console platforms, pick the Xbox 360 version over the PlayStation 3. Not only is Fallout 3 technically superior on the 360, but massive downloadable content is on the way exclusively for the 360. Presumably, a "Game of the Year" edition will eventually trickle onto the PS3 with the additional content, like Bethseda did with Oblivion, but there are no guarantees.
