Revealed: Wedge is a Microsoft Android, and Microsoft Fields 911 Calls in the Direverse
This problem cracked me up. In a nutshell, the 30GB launch units of the Zune (Microsoft's portable media player) locked up, due to a glitch in leap year calculations. My two favorite parts about this are Microsoft's response and its implications:
"Q: What is Zune doing to fix this issue?
The issue should resolve itself."
...and the fact that since Microsoft's response is to do nothing, it'll happen again in four years.
So Windows crashes, Xboxes red ring, and Zunes freak out and shut down on the 366th day of the year. To quote Douglas Adams, "...their fundamental design flaws are completely hidden by their superficial design flaws." Microsoft has turned success through failure into an art form.

My replacing the esteemed Mr. Yim as Germany's steward has ended the "Gang of Three", breaking their stranglehold on the game. Frankly, I had fully intended on maintaining that alliance as long as it served in Germany's best interests, but a number of events transpired to shatter Europe into a number of open conflicts.
England managed to (barely) survive the Go3 onslaught, and is currently locked in a 2v2 stalemate with French vessels. My predecessor had managed to work a German fleet into London, but without sufficient support to hold and take it. I worked out a deal with England to allow it passage into the North Sea, in lieu of utter destruction. The ensuing naval maneuvers are a study in irony, as England slipped its way into the English Channel, threatening the French base of Brest, even as France took Liverpool. England and France may be chasing each others' tails for some time.
France now finds itself in some uncertainty, as it jockeys with England in the north, and Italy to the south. With seven supply centers, France leads the game, but is evenly matched against the combined enemies. The outcome of either front could have lasting effects on the progress of the game.
Italy is now fully mobilized and hurling everything it has against France. The two of them have been roleplaying a religious vendetta since day one, and it appears the conflict has finally come to a boil. Both nations are able to divert equal numbers to this war, but Italy is currently more densely arrayed at the point of conflict.
Austria continues to work with Turkey toward the elimination of Russia. They've now encircled Warsaw, whose fall will be the first domino of Russia's demise.
Turkey continues to be in the best position of all seven powers. It has a secured power base with no vulnerable flanks. The Turkish player has been biding his time, patiently waiting for Austria to deliver the keys to Russia.
Russia is fucked.
I will clearly and publicly state Germany's intentions. We are seizing Russian territory while the gettin's still good.
