Castro is a Coelacanth
The opening mission of Call of Duty: Black Ops is an assassination operation targeting Fidel Castro, set during the Bay of Pigs invasion. I typically dismiss the outrage of groups or governments when they decry content in videogames, but I can empathize with this outrage. While the era of JFK and Cold War shenanigans is the realm of ancient history for our hyper-evolving culture, Cuba's revered national patriarch and revolutionary founder is still alive and contributing to the world stage. For us it'd be like a videogame mission to rub out George Washington, who's somehow still alive and beloved today, gallivanting around making inspirational speeches and banging celebutants in his powdered wig. (There's an old joke that he's *literally* the father of our country.) The fact that Castro is the singular Western Hemisphere figure to successfully thumb his nose at the United States is remarkable. He survived numerous vigorous applications of the Monroe Doctrine, from invasion to CIA destabilization to embargoes, clear through to the fall of the Soviet Empire and beyond. All politics and ideology aside, that is nothing short of astonishing.
