Sony Sadness

Year of the PlayStation 3?

This makes three straight Direman comic strips on this issue, but I figure Sony's fair game as long as PlayStation Network remains offline. An outage of this scale was unthinkable until it actually happened. What's extra disappointing is that the PS3 finally came into it's own over the past year or so, and particularly with these three cool releases with online play right in the same window as this network collapse.

Kaz Hirai, PlayStation head honcho himself, apologized with a deep bow of humility. Even a cursory understanding of Japanese culture illuminates the massive scope of Sony's felt shame over this debacle.

It had always been my hope that PSN would provide sufficient competition that Microsoft would be forced to reduce or eliminate the subscription fee of Xbox Live. Instead, PSN's lack of features, the goofy PSN Plus program, and now this service outage/data leak just allows Microsoft to giggle all the way to the bank. They could raise fees again, and all I could do is shrug.

Now Playing - Portal 2 (Xbox 360 - the other versions are better though; I went 360 to co-op with buddies) and Modern Warfare 2 10 NUKES DONE (Xbox 360)
