I have two things I want to communicate today:
1) Do not fuck with badgers.
2) Thanks to this reader feedback, I'm disappointed at the lack of diversity in our cast. I'm talking specifically about The Adventures of Dave the Direman. Everwas has a distinctly LGBT emphasis, and Squishy Comics does have both genders and various races represented. (What's up with that? Vargas designed both casts...)
I think of Dave himself as primal. Vargas illustrates him as..."olive", I guess. That works for me. If someone forced me to answer what his racial background is, I'd likely answer Mesopotamian, or maybe Sumerian.
Wedge and Biggs are so white it hurts. And Tina is as blonde, blue-eyed, master race as you can get. PonFarr the borderline(?) pedophile is Caucasian as well, because you can mock white people freely without consequence. (What is that, triple reverse white-guilt exploitative racism?) Among the primary cast, only Vawce is a minority. But he's far more readily identifiable as an undead, than as an Asian. Considering that Vargas is of Mexican descent, and I am an Oriental yellow man, and we both live in the massive cultural mosaic that is Los Angeles, the psychological ramifications of the resulting cast of Dave the Direman is intriguing... We're clearly still being oppressed by the white man.
But don't fuck with badgers. Gay or otherwise.
