Remember a time when Japanese game developers were the final word? A world in which Capcom, Konami, and Square releases determined which platform you bought? Microsoft spent so much money failing to break into the Japanese market because they felt it was mandatory to woo them into making games for the Xbox 360.
Somewhere, that industry leadership flipped. Japanese developers grew irrelevant as they suddenly realized that Western markets had evolved. Now you've got this sorry state where Capcom is touting the "evolved control system" they're developing for Resident Evil 6; they're bragging about basic control mechanisms that have been industry standard since the 2006 release of Gears of War.
