E3 Then and Now

We are living in a Golden Age of Gaming. I'm thinking back to when I was a kid (I consider anyone under 25 a kid), and the fare we have now is FREAKING AMAZING. We don't have enough time to play the very great stuff, much less middling material that we would've killed for, say, twenty years ago. No matter how solid a game is today, you'll find forums filled with pissing and moaning about how horrid it is. We have become so jaded.

Having said that, I'm hypocritically skipping on E3 this year. It's just too exhausting to fight the mass of humanity just to be shilled at by a disingenuous marketing presentation. Not that every booth is this way, but some of those PR peeps can spin like they have silk coming out of their asses. And when I see longtime industry vets just bombed out of their minds on hard liquor to cope with the endless madness, I figure I'll take a year off. I'll arm myself with cognac next year to check out the next gen unveilings.

Arturo is there right now though; if he gathers interesting material, I'll pass it on here.
