Sexual Objectification

We at Direman Press are all about equal opportunity. This one's for all the ladies. (Even Amber who wrote that email to complain about this strip.)

In all seriousness (and thanks for writing, Amber), sexual objectification is a serious societal ill that distorts and warps our perspectives in insidiously unhealthy ways. It infects the mental processes of members of BOTH genders.

And neither will I claim that I'm an innocent party here. I admit to finding sexually charged imagery of attractive women stimulating. Lasciviousness is a universal human failing, and I acknowledge that comic strips on this site have reflected this, and have been guilty of pandering.

However, I do ask for a certain degree of leeway. The focus of that comic strip wasn't about oiled-up-nearly-naked Bianca and Tina; it was about the two dudes' reactions to oiled-up-nearly-naked Bianca and Tina. We strive for satire here, and that means indulging in our culture's foibles in the process of recognizing and mocking them. For example, I certainly hope that anyone reading this comic does not believe that our usage of that vile, bigoted language means that we condone it.
