I hadn't been aware how serious this actually was. I don't think the PlayStation 4 will actually be axed, because the video game market is simply too lucrative to just give up on, but Sony is likely to be less ambitious (read: arrogant) this go around. They clearly lost this generation's hardware war, cracking the supremacy of the first two PlayStation cycles. The PSP/Vita endeavor is a whisker's breadth away from being dubbed an outright debacle.

And somehow, the gaming arm is still one of Sony's healthier divisions...

Sony fired 10,000+ members of their marketing department as everyone else was gearing up for the holiday blitzkrieg. That's just the start of the "restructuring" they'll have to do to regain the credit they need just to stay in business.
