Grant Morrison is Batshit Crazy
I strung together his verbal nuggets together for exaggerated effect, but he actually kinda talks like that.
So yes. Robin is dead. The comic book has been out for almost two weeks, and was spoilerfied in the New York Post even before the book hit the stands anyway. We've now gone through a full six-pack of Robins. (Don't forget the two girls!)
Anyway, what I really wanted to discuss is Grant Morrison. He's a highly polarizing writer. There are times I read his books, and they are simply SO obfuscatingly incomprehensible that I simply reject him as a drugged out pretender, attempting to hide his poor storytelling with a mishmash of metaphors that don't actually allude to anything remotely resembling coherence.
Other times, particularly when I read titles I originally purchased monthly in one sitting, he strikes me with his brilliant adaptation of previously discarded themes juxtaposed onto what I can only call "futurism". His social critiques and exploration of the psyche find few peers in the medium.
Reaction to his works fall neatly into these two opposing ends of the spectrum. If his work speaks to you, you consider him a clever and insightful writer, able to peer behind the veil of mortal perception and share a fleeting glimpse of the metaphysical. If his works simply confuse you, you regard him as a drug-addled blowhard.
I have to admit, depending on which of his works are being referenced, I agree with both assessments.
