There's already a Facebook thread rolling about the Switch, so I'm just copy-pasting my most recent response. Please excuse the informal diction.
"It's trying to do everything, but won't do anything well. I don't do mobile gaming, but why not give us a legit mobile only and excel at that? Even there, Sony failed. I don't think the market can support a cash-upfront mobile system anymore. Phone/tablet usage has changed the landscape of that market. For home use, it might already be outclassed in performance. And I'm already annoyed at all the Wii gadgets; I have no intentions of buying the Voltron controller to slap the Joymotes into. Ultimately, I hate it because it won't sell. No market share, no third party support. This has been a Nintendo issue for some time, but the trend is cratering now. I also have massive residual resentment toward the company from the Wii U. At the very least, we expect solid first party support. That lack was the last straw for me. They failed me for the last time."
Oh yeah, and what does a cartridge-based system mean for the MSRP of games themselves?
I do like that some people are excited by it, though. I just don't see it capturing the necessary market share necessary to deliver on any of its promises.
