I'm going to have to agree with Dee -

The communist governments we've seen in the 20th century (and some into the 21st! {sarcasm} Go North Korea {/sarcasm} ) have uniformly been authoritarian and totalitarian.

Totalitarianism is when the rights of the individual are pretty much completely subsumed to the powers of the State in every area of life - economic, religious, social, educational, even artistic. Both Marxist-Leninist Communism and Fascism are subsets of Totalitarianism, but with distinctly different flavors. (don't try them - they both taste bad)

Fascist governments like Franco's Spain, Mussolini's Italy, and Hitler's Germany tended to preach extreme nationalism, cozy up into plutocratic arrangements with industry (generally against labor,) and suborn religious expression into nationalist themes.

By contrast, Communist governments like Stalin's Soviet Union preached internationalism (while still hypocritically maintaining the dominance of European Russians over other internal ethnic groups) - this allowed them to cozy up to communists in other nations, completely appropriated the property of industry and completely absorb labor movements into the government so they can be controlled, and attempted to demolish religious expression (Stalin did an abrupt about-face when the Nazis invaded because he wanted the Russian Orthodox Church to raise morale.)

There are probably other differences, but that's what leaps to mind.

With apologies to Jeff Foxworthy:
You might be a fascist if...
...you hear about people "running riot" and you wish you got their orders from above.
...uniform brown shirts are the new black.
...uniform black shirts are the new black.
...you eschew both charcoal and gas barbecuing in favor of the printed word.
...your idea of a fun evening at the stadium resembles a Wagner opera. (Er, but isn't actually an opera...)
...the trains all run on time, but the passengers are late.

Hahaha - funny, and creepy in a Soylent Green sort of way.

And you needn't apologize to Foxworthy - his is lowbrow humor worthy of, um, Fox television.

And I finally got around to taking that "politics" test:

"Social Moderate (55% permissive)
Economic Moderate (50% permissive)

You are best described as a: Centrist

You exhibit a very well-developed sense of Right and Wrong and believe in economic fairness."

I'm tempted to try it again and see if it's possible to get, "You're a petty hatemonger that embraces social and economic injustice."

Yeah...I just tried to reply as a "fascist" lunatic and got:

"Social Conservative: 5% permissive
Economic Conservative: 95% permissive

You are best described as a: Strong Republican

You exhibit a very well-developed sense of Right and Wrong and believe in economic fairness."

Economic fairness my ass LOL

I wanted to try the test too, so here's what I got:

Social Liberal
(80% permissive)

and an...

Economic Liberal
(26% permissive)

You are best described as a:

Strong Democrat

You exhibit a very well-developed sense of Right and Wrong and believe in economic fairness.

Does it ever tell anyone that they don't believe in economic fairness?

Apparently, "You exhibit a very well-developed sense of Right and Wrong and believe in economic fairness." is just a stock line that everyone gets. Probably because "sense of right and wrong" and "economic fairness" are subjective - everyone thinks they have those traits, regardless of where they fall on the scale.
