You know, I think they are, to a large extent. Some very interesting things to think about in this article. One of them:
Might the spirit of enterprise we currently associate with "career" be shifted to something entirely more collaborative, purposeful, and even meaningful?

A lot of people would have much more time to put toward making the world a better place, if they weren't struggling so hard (and increasingly in vain) just to survive and get the basics like food and shelter.
We start by accepting that food and shelter are basic human rights. The work we do -- the value we create -- is for the rest of what we want: the stuff that makes life fun, meaningful, and purposeful.
I want my job description to be: "gets paid to draw sexy ladies." :D
