I got no orders. I have thought about both options of restarting the game with a viable France as well. I asked him for orders 30 mins prior to deadline and as of 6PM, I have nothing. I'd like to hear some explanation why he missed the first turn. I'm inclined to let him play from his hole if it was a legitimate problem. If it's laziness, I propose to start over since there was nothing much done. Seeing how England and Germany (the two mainly affected) feels, this should be OK. Also, I've noticed you guys already had 90% of your negotiations done in 2 days so we won't spend the additional turn time starting the game.

*Edit*
Joel is willing to take over as the new player. I am also considering redrawing the board so it will level the playing field. Your thoughts please?

By redraw, do you mean go back to turn 1 and start over?

I'd rather not do the first turn again. So, Thats my vote :)

Ugh. I vote no on the redraw. I've been impatient to get the game going as it is. Especially since John STILL hasn't responded, I'm in favor of:

1) Plugging Joel in as France
2) Allowing him to submit first turn orders that do not alter the resolution of other moves (the only one in question is Bill's move to Piedmont)
3) The time from now until Saturday ought to be sufficient for him to catch up diplomatically

What do you guys think?

OK, due to John's inability to turn in orders on the first turn and his silence afterwards, he has been replaced with Danny. France will submit turn 1 orders whenever he can on the condition that it does not bounce the moves into ENG and PIE from his neighbors. I implore the other players to give Danny a fair shake even if you feel locked into your plans. We all know the best plans never survive 2 turns in this game.

Fall 1901 orders due Sat 5/16 Noon as previously scheduled. New France has submitted orders and has caught up in a fury of negotiations. Thanks for bearing with us during the technical difficulties!
