Thanks!

Would you be willing to be our 1st alternate if someone drops out? :)

Hey Steve, like I wrote in the opening of this thread, this wasn't a first come first serve scenario. As a community of gamers seeking integrity of play, we need to select players that will facilitate that.

@ Dan - To be considered, you'd have to *promise* to be on the ball. None of the "it shouldn't be a problem" assurances. You missed eight of your twenty sets of orders last game. That's a LOT. :( I loved the way you handled the diplomatic aspect of the game, but multiple missed orders unbalance the playing field.

As for the seven you listed, I feel the weakest commitment is from Mike. (Mike, you have a strong tendency to drop participation if it goes badly for you.) Even still, he's been upping his play significantly each game and missing far less turns. As long as this trend continues, Mike should make for an asset to the coming game.

Everyone else on your list, short of the new blood (Steve G.), has demonstrated a strong commitment to participation in past games. And thanks for adjudicating this one, Steve.

I feel we could go with the seven players you listed. Before we start, just for the sake of officialism, can we get a strong proclamation of commitment from each of the seven participants? I understand that life stuff can interfere, causing a turn to drop here and there, but barring major emergency there's really no excuse to take up one of these slots and then not give it your best. Having a backup alternate is always a good idea, but if we're all committed, the likelihood of us needing to call on that person will be negligible.

You guys all know me; as long as I have even one unit, I'll be negotiating and submitting orders. Nevertheless, here's my - OFFICIAL COMMITMENT to Diplomacy Round 4.

Also, if I ruffled any feathers with this post, I apologize for that is not the intent. I was just extremely annoyed at the way John buggered the beginning of the last game, and I want to stamp those sort of problems into the ground.

I actually had a reason for "not participating" the last few turns of last game. :) All but the VERY last was planned. Suckah.

I should be solid as long as I can potentially phone in orders. I may be w/o internet towards the end of the month when I move.

I promise to turn in orders and negotiate until my last unit is gone, or until its very obvious that someone else has won. And possibly even still in the latter case. ;)
