According to my experience with both of them, I think Facebook and it's pages are more adequate for the site. On the other hand, G+ is more oriented towards sharing simple strips, more like twitter. It's not better than Facebook for building community or having presence. Though it's useful communication way for an already existing community.

Facebook has the WoW advantage, where people might try something new, and even though it's good, they go back to Facebook because "all my friends are there".

However, the same could have been said about Friendster and MySpace. I'm going to place my bet on Google+ mainly because people I know who seemed against Facebook by a small degree or outright refusing to use it have already started accounts on Google+. Here's Gallagher's take on it: "It's everything I want from Facebook without being Facebook! YAY!"

To be fair, I stole the joke from Randall Monroe of xkcd, but the sentiment still stands. The only problem I see is that Google dropped the ball with the limited beta. In order to negate the WoW effect they should have just thrown everyone with a Google account head first into the pool. Also, it seems to me that G+ is shaping up to be more LinkedIn that Facebook, but lets see what happens when it's open to all.

I cast my vote for Google+ due to Facebook's bad record in regards to dealing with transgendered people; I deleted my own Facebook account over this many months ago. Google+ on the other hand lets us leave our gender undefined when creating an account- a big plus in my book! However, it does want you to use a full first and last name, which sucks, but they clearly state in one place that the use of pseudonyms is allowed, which mitigates that somewhat. It's still not perfect, of course, and I look forward to the day when social networking is truly trans-inclusive.
