Dragon Age

What should I be playing?

Dragon Age

Hey you'se guys? How's Dragon Age? All of the prerelease material looked like garbage - I wouldn't have been at all interested if it wasn't freaking BioWare developing it.

I also figured I'd just download it for PC, as it was originally intended as a PC title before EA pushed to release it on consoles. Anyone with the Xbox version able to tell me if the interface is solid? I might prefer to play it on my television in comfort if there isn't too much loss.

I hear it's better for the PC if you can run it, since the xbox version has all those fucked up "We're using a controller" menu screens that suck.

The people I know who have it say it's awesome, and in typical bioware fashion the dialogue is awesome.

One review I read said "60 hours with no frills" so it's waiting for next summer for me.

Short review: Pretty much standard issue bioware, so if you liked previous bioware games, its pretty good. If you want a more in depth review, just watch the yahtzee's zero punctuation review on mass effect and replace any mention of alien with elf/dwarf, any mention of galaxy with fantasy world, and any mention of spectre with grey warden. Oh, and there aren't any vehicle driving sections.

If you'd like I can write you a 5000 word essay on what I liked and didn't like, but, I'll spare you.

I just bought Dragon Age for the PS3, and I really enjoyed the 45 mins i played before having to go to bed. I'm gonna fire it up again tonight and see what kind of mischief I can get myself into.
:D

By the way apparently there are six different openings depending on your race and class
so I guess that means I need six(!!) different characters to see all of the openings...

I'm about 10 hours in (in a day and a half) and I like it a lot. I kinda feel like I messed up making a tankey person, since the first companion is a tankey person.

The dialogue rocks (as always).

The one "tip" I have. Save early and save often. F5 ftw. EVERYTIME I forget... I end up dying and having to go through like 30 minutes of shit again. /sigh.

and another 24 hours the other day. gah.

the game is cruel btw. One of the "romance" stories gets you a badass weapon... BUT, apparently if your approval is too high with the person you can't do this one chat option...and thus can't get the bow or the bajingo.

Okay, so I just beat it... and I have to say... I"m ready to pump another 50+ hours into it. The 6 starting stories are all badass (so far). I've done the Dwarf Commoner - which I beat it with, and played the start of the Dwarf Noble... which is NUTSO.

I think the game has like 20 possible endings... since there's a ton of shit you can do differently. It's pretty much more in-depth than any of the other games, imo.

They also got rid of the good/evil thing, focusing more on deeds... if you do certain things you curtail more favor with different party members/NPC's... but ther'es no light side/open palm vs. dark side/closed fist.

And Dee, get the PC version. I've seen clips of the Xbox interface... and it looks manageable, like Mass Effect... but I foresee a TON more use of the pause feature to cycle through shit.. instead of having the wow/diablo-esque bar interface.

Fabulous game... I want the next one.
